Litt Tak Warehouse sale 6-9 December 2012 Review

I've been to this warehouse sales several times because hubby is a Gundam fan (not Gangnam.. mind you). When we were dating, we will scout this warehouse sales for good bargains. Somehow, as the years pass by, the "bargains" were no longer that good or perhaps hubby now doesn't stay nearby enough to go on the first day on Thursday morning. Lol

This time, I went with a different vision. I went there as a mummy looking for potential toys for her future child. :)

I looked at the toys and was amazed with what you can get below RM10 or even RM20. There were this electrical toy which makes noise and lights for RM8. In fact, later on I went to shops that were selling cheap China products and the toys were at least RM20 (meaning those sold at this warehouse is cheap). Tempted but then upon closer inspection, I was worried about the colour peeling, what-if my child bites the small part, etc. (Worrywart but you never know! Prevention is always better than cure)

Hence, in the end, since I was there, I wanted to get something nice and deliberated on this one item. Hubby is forever "useless" when asking opinions to buy stuff. He will say "Up to you". So I chose this cute little Tomy Toddle N Ride for RM140. Normally I wouldn't want to splurge but looking at it, I thought to myself "Even in Giant or Tesco, those no brand bikes would cost around the same price. Might as well get this with a reputable brand and it is 2-in-1".

Being phobia about missing parts, I asked hubby to check the contents but he happily assembled the toy!! Lol..

This toy is suitable for 12 month and above, hence the assembled toy will only be used more than a year later. Tsk tsk..

I'm not sure if the walker helps much but I do like the swirling toys on the activity board which are not battery-operated and most importantly the cute little bike. The handle seems like it can be lose easily (as per review in amazon too). Will post a review when my little one finally plays with this. :)

Angry Birds Attack Piggilot...

One day, my bf suspiciously took out something from a bag.. and threw it at me.

Lo and behold... Piggilot gets attacked by Angry Birds!!

Aren't they adorable? I remember checking them out in the Rovio website and wondered if I should even spend the money getting them.

I thought of comparing my plushies with the ones from Rovio but am too lazy to do it now.. haha

Piggilot = Pig
So I would have preferred the green pigs which people might not want, because they're so evil and mean for taking the birds' eggs.

But pigs are cute too!! :p

Hence, if you're really crazy about Angry birds and don't mind the cheap knock-off... go check out the garage sale in some of the forums around which are selling them. Mind you, since they're "hot items" now... it might be a little pricey for such plush toys but if your're a fan... it's nothing! Lol

Meanwhile, the birds are securedly arranged in my shelf to avoid unnecessary hostility in case they get angry and attack me... Hope they won't attack my other pink pigs in my shelf! Lol! If not imagine this..

Movie Review: Toy Story 1,2 & 3 (spoiler alert)

Why should you watch Toy Story 3?

Well, firstly, you need to take the following steps:

Watch Toy Story 1 (check)
Watch Toy Story 2 (check)

Fall in love with Pixar animations in between. :D
Then watch Toy Story 3!

Why? I personally think, you should see the history of the toys (the characters) in the previous installment to really appreciate why Woody chose to be with his buddies no matter what.

Brief historical recap (without any references.. wohoo!)
Toy Story 1 introduces the Andy's toys in his bedroom and the favourite toy, Woody (the cowboy) feels threatened with the arrival of a new toy, Buzz Lightyear. He plots to rid of Buzz who initially thought he was the real character Buzz Lightyear from Star Command. In the end, friendship blossomed through their adventures together against the evil neighbour boy. Woody and Buzz become best of buddies. I love the song "You've Got a Friend in me" by Randy Newman.

Take note how proud they are when they get marked with the word "Andy."

Toy Story 2 continues with the adventures of Andy's toys which became a mishap when Woody got kidnapped by the "chicken man" Al. He was kidnapped as the last collector's item for the Woody's Roundup to be sold off to Japan. Initially, he was determined to escape but soon felt sad for the other gang: Jessie the cowgirl, his horse Bullseye and the Prospector.

The touching part is when Jessie recollects how she was abandoned by her previous owner. She was left in a box by the road side when her owner grew up. The song worth noting here is "When She Loved Me" written by Randy Newman and performed by Sarah McLachlan.

In the end, the other toys came to rescue Woody and they all escape back to Andy's room minus the evil Prospector.


Toy Story 3 starts with Andy all grown up and ready to go to college. (I find this a little sad - it's like seeing your son leave and having the empty nest syndrome which was shown briefly with the mum looking so sad at the empty room). Andy's toys have been limited to those few favourites with many given away such as Woody's girlfriend - Bo Peep.

The story then shows that Andy decides to bring Woody to college with him and keep the rest in the attic. Unfortunately, while he was keeping the other toys, they were accidentally thrown away as trash. The other toys were upset and found out about a daycare called Sunnyside. Woody tried to persuade them to come back but the rest of the toys thought being played by kids in a daycare would be better than being kept in an attic.

Unfortunately, a cuddly-pink-strawberry-fragrant bear, Lotso, is a tyrant who bullies the new toys there. Take note of all the villains in each movie. Woody tries to rescue the gang in an elaborate, hilarious feat.

In the end, the most touching scene to me is when Woody packs himself with the rest of toys to be given to a little girl. The way they drew Andy's reluctance to be parted with Woody is so real and heart-wrenching. But he knows that it's time for him to move on and perhaps, Woody will bring more memories to the little girl. The last moment he plays with Woody and the gang... Awww.. You have to watch this movie! There's the little romantic scene of Buzz and Jessie too with the tango!! ;)

Hence, remember to keep your toys carefully or pass it on to the younger children who might have more cherished moments with the world of creativity and toys!

p.s. I bought a Woody action figure in HK Disneyland last time... lol!! I also have a pair of Mr and Mrs Potato Head (but it's different from Toy Story's) because of this movie. All still kept in their boxes though... hmmm... Hope they don't as bitter as the Prospector!

Never really fancied plush toys to the max except little adorable ones or collector's item (i.e. my little Gizmo plush toy all the way from the US... thank you, Siew Li!!); unlike Ms. C and her inseparable collection of "Forever Friends" bears... ;)

(Oh yeah, Gizmo is the adorable creature from the movie Gremlins who will turn into the hideous Gremlin-monster if it is fed with food after midnight).

Hence, I was quite surprised when I found the Paddington bear, which is available in Guardian pharmacy appealing to me. I can always remember Paddington bear in his blue trench coat and red hat. :)

Guardian, a pharmacy outlet were doing promotion to entice customers to spend more money again by spending a certain amount to collect stamps. RM25 per stamp to be exact. You could own a Paddington bear for free after collecting certain amount of stamps. This bear collection is in conjunction with its 50th year anniversary.

The bear I was eyeing cost 45 stamps or 20 stamps and roughly RM45. I somehow managed to get enough stamps with my mum buying some toiletries and opted the second option. Hence, I bought myself a Paddington bear today!

I would have preferred the one with his trademark blue trench coat and red hat but it was a little small to my liking. This bear is 16" high unlike the other which is only 12".

Don't know what got into me. :)

Next, I bought a Roly Bear from Hallmark. I couldn't google much info on this bear but the salesgirl in the shop did mentioned that this bear is from the states. It is the only standing bear available as the body is made of foam and there are bean chips (like in the bean bag) in its feet.

However, the reason I bought it was because it has a little feature which reminds me of someone else's. It has a nicely round foamy tush. Ha! I bought it for that person who ungratefully didn't accept the gift. So it stands proudly on my table with its little tush out. :)

Therefore, I might fall for plush toys for different reasons. Though not the entire collection but one or two meaningful ones!
